About Beeld & Beest
From lens to nose – work that lingers.
Beeld & Beest started with animal photography. Today, the focus is on the development of detection and scent work materials for sporting dogs. What remained the same: an open eye for what the animal truly needs.
The story
Started behind the camera.
I'm Michel — a photographer, certified canine instructor, outdoors enthusiast, and a dog lover through and through. What started with animal photography naturally evolved into working with dogs. Hundreds of dogs in front of my lens taught me their movements, motives, and drives. And what really got them going: their noses.
While giving training sessions, I quickly noticed a high demand for good, practical, and affordable materials. Not everything needed seemed to exist, or didn't meet my expectations. From that desire, I started developing my own products.
The products you find in this webshop were not conceived behind a desk — they originated on the training field. First extensively tested within a detection-focused dog school, then refined, and only then included in the webshop.
Certified cynological instructor
Michel is a certified canine instructor and actively trains with his own dogs. Every product is designed based on this daily practical experience — not as a spectator, but as a trainer in the field. What doesn't work, isn't sold.

What we work on every day.
Four principles guiding every product and decision at Beeld & Beest.
Functional design
Every product starts with a practical problem. A scent cone that doesn't leak. A search wall that doesn't collapse. Detail determines whether a dog works with pleasure.
Sturdy and honest
We choose durable materials: hardwood, vulcanised rubber, stainless steel. No disposables. What can break, you can replace – no need for an entirely new product.
Short lines
Design, production and shipping from one location in Limburg. Questions go directly to the maker. Changes can be made — often within the same week.
Proven in practice
All products have been extensively tested during real training sessions. Used and further developed by instructors and dog sports teams before they were added to the webshop.
Knowledge of behaviour
I don't just look through a lens, but also at what happens in front of it. My background as a canine instructor provides insight into behavior that is reflected in every design.
For sports and living room
Our materials are used by professionals and by dog lovers who want to give their four-legged friend a good quarter of an hour of fun. Both are equally valued.
And the pictures?
A collection that is constantly evolving.
Besides training aids, I photograph animals — dogs, horses, wild animals, and anything with paws, feathers, or character. Always on location, never in a studio. The images that truly resonate are created where an animal feels comfortable.
The knowledge and experience from dog training also help with photographing other animals: knowing when to intervene, when not to intervene, and how to maintain calm. Patience and a sense of timing — that's the same on the training field as it is behind the lens.
Our photo collection continues to grow — portraits for your wall. The passion with which Beeld & Beest started still hangs on our wall. There's also a place for it on yours.
